If you’ve claimed the Earned Income Credit (EITC) or the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC), by law your refund cannot be issued before February 15th. The IRS expects the earliest these refunds will become available in taxpayer accounts is February 27, 2019.
Most refunds are issued in under 21 days, but occasionally some returns require more processing time.
You should only call the IRS if it has been:
more than 21 days since e-filing
more than 6 weeks since filing by mail
or if you are directed to do so by the Where’s My Refund? tool.
